BEETHOVEN String Quartet in F major Op 18 No 1
BOCCHERINI Guitar Quintet “Fandango”
RAVEL String Quartet in F major M35
One of Ravel’s best loved works, his String Quartet in F major, was written in 1903, just over a hundred years after the publication of Beethoven’s Op 18 No 1 quartet, also in F. These quartets, so representative of the string quartet repertoire, couldn’t be in greater contrast to Boccherini’s Guitar Quintet Fandango.
Andrey Lebedev, one of the finest young guitar players to emerge this century, joins the Alberni Quartet as part of their Two Moors Residency.
